Frequently asked questions

Spending money on outside help is a big decision for a small business. These answers should make it a little easier. If yours isn't here, just ask!
Is this right for my business?
Almost certainly. While every business is different, the core principles of good marketing are surprisingly consistent across industries — how potential customers see your business, how clearly your offer comes across, and how easily people can take the next step. If you're wondering whether it works for your specific situation, the discovery call is the quickest way to find out.
Do I need any marketing knowledge?
None at all — the whole process is designed to be clear and straightforward whatever your background. Everything is explained in plain English with practical recommendations focused on what will actually help your business. You'll leave with a clear picture of where you are, what's worth focusing on, and exactly what to do next. And if anything in the report needs more explanation, 30 days of follow-up support is included.
What does the process look like?
Simpler than you might expect. We start with a focused hour's conversation about your business. I then do the review independently and come back with the written report within five working days. From there you have an optional follow up call plus 30 days of email support included.
Will I need to implement everything myself?
Some people take the report and run with it — others want a hand putting it into action. Both work perfectly well. The quick wins are designed to be straightforward to implement yourself, and if you'd like more help the ongoing support options are there for exactly that.
How quickly will I see results?
It depends on what you implement — but some improvements can make an impact within days. The Priority Action Plan includes quick wins chosen specifically for low effort and fast impact. Bigger improvements naturally take a little longer, which is why the plan is structured around now, 30–60 days, and longer term priorities — so you always know what to tackle first.
How is this different from hiring a marketing agency?
Agencies typically work on retainer contracts, run campaigns on your behalf, and are structured for businesses with larger budgets and ongoing execution needs. The Marketing Reset is built for something different — independent, flexible, and focused on giving you the clarity and plan to move forward confidently yourself. If you're unsure which is right for your situation, the discovery call will make it clear.
How much does it cost?
Every service has a clear, transparent price. The Marketing Reset is £350 fixed. The Sounding Board is £100 per session or £175 with a follow-up call. Ongoing support starts from £200 pm for Marketing Lite, £500 pm for Marketing Partner, and £1,200 pm for Marketing Lead. All ongoing services can be cancelled anytime. Full details are on the services page.
Will I be told to spend more money on marketing?
Not always — and often the most valuable improvements cost nothing at all. Clearer messaging, stronger first impressions, and better handling of existing enquiries can make a significant impact before any additional budget is needed. Where investment does make sense, the Reset will tell you exactly where it's worth spending.
Can we meet in person to discuss my marketing?
Most sessions are held online — it keeps things simple and means we can get started quickly wherever you're based. For clients on an ongoing support plan, in-person meetings are available and particularly useful for reviewing progress or planning the next phase of activity. I'm based in Great Dunmow in Essex, so face-to-face works well for local clients — and for everyone else, online works just as well. If you have a preference, just mention it on the discovery call and we'll work out what makes most sense.
What if previous marketing advice hasn't worked for me?
That's more common than you'd think — and it's rarely the business owner's fault. Most generic marketing advice is built for bigger budgets and broader audiences. The Marketing Reset is built specifically for where you are — practical, focused on your business, and honest about what's actually worth doing at your stage.
What if the problem isn't my marketing?
Honestly, that's one of the most valuable things the Reset can tell you. Sometimes the real issue is pricing, positioning, offer clarity, or how enquiries are handled. Knowing that early means you can focus your energy in the right place rather than investing further in marketing that was never going to solve the underlying problem.
Will what I share with you stay confidential?
Absolutely. Everything discussed - whether on a discovery call, during the Reset, or as part of ongoing support — stays strictly between us. You should feel comfortable being completely honest about where things are. That's what makes the Reset as useful as possible.
How do I know if I need a Reset or ongoing support?
A good rule of thumb — if you want clarity on where your marketing stands, start with the Reset. Many people find the report and action plan is all they need to move forward confidently. Ongoing support makes more sense if you want a regular sounding board or help putting the recommendations into action over time. Still unsure? The discovery call is the right place to work it out.
I'm interested - what's the first step?
